Laverna’s Almond Roca Recipe

This recipe was passed from one sister-in-law to another. I happen to have 6 great sister-in-laws - LaVerna, Christine, Glenda, Rhonda, Jody and Lorna. Miss you all!

Graham wafer crackers (enough to cover a cookie sheet)

1 cup brown sugar

½ cup butter

1 tsp vanilla

1 1/3 cup choc chips

1 cup sliced skinned roasted almonds



Spray cookie sheets with Pam cooking spray. Lay down gr. wafer crackers onto cookie sheet, break to fit if need be.



In a heavy sauce pan melt butter over med. Heat add sugar & vanilla, boil for 3 min, stirring constantly. Pour mixture of graham crackers.

Bake for 5 min. at 350. Remove from oven, shut oven off. Layer choc chips all over mix, and return to oven to soften choc chips.

Take out of oven and spread out the choc evenly. Sprinkle warm choc with the sliced almonds. Put into freezer to harden. Break into pieces, and keep refrigerated, as it tends to melt easily.
