Be a local tourist

With our move we have a whole new state to explore. What is going on close to home that you have not explored. We have started a list of things to see and do in no farther than 4.5 hours from home.

Get out a map and draw a radius around your home 4 hours away.
Somethings to look for:
  1. Local Festivals - just before we left WY, I attended the 4th annual Brew Fest. Live music, local food vendors and great beer
  2. Museums - they change exhibits, they bring special traveling articles - many cities have children's museums good for the entire family.
  3. Amusement Parks & Water Parks - a great day for the entire family - I personally hate roller coasters, but I love the day out together.
  4. Downtown - the heart of the city - Shakespeare in the park, locally owned restaurants, shopping, theatre, brew pubs
  5. State and Provincial Parks - pack a picnic lunch and go for a hike
  6. The Zoo - they come in all sizes - Discovery Wildlife Park
  7. Hidden treasures - hot springs, caves, waterfalls, petroglyphs
  8. Diners, famous burgers or wings or even a place to grill your own steak in the pit (Lumsden or Carlyle has a great place can't recall out of the 2.
  9. The Chamber of Commerce - people who work at the Chamber are a wealth of knowledge
  10. Farmers Markets great people watching, locally grown food and so much more....

So what are you waiting for take a vacation close to home. Take a break :-)

Share you favorite spot close to home in the comments and I will add them to my list.
